Big Willow

Less than a half mile past Two Mile on the right.  Check out the amazing beaver dams on the Middle Fork of Mill Creek.  Park where a road starts across a field.  Follow the old road across the field into the woods.  In a few hundred yards the road turns uphill and narrows to a trail.

Fairly steep for mountain bikers but not very technical.  Moderate for hikers.  The trail is well defined and in good shape.

After climbing through mixed conifer forest the trail crosses two small streams before leveling off and dropping on the other side of the ridge.  Good view to the north.  At the first junction you can continue down and cross a good bridge across Middle Fork then up a short road to Middle Fork road.  A left turn will take you back to your car.  A right at the junction will add miles of trail and some hills and another choice at the next junction.  I usually choose the right fork.  Neither fork loops.

3-15-10  The trail is still probably snowy on the north side.  Middle Fork road still has mud and ice in places.  Not suitable for a passenger car.  Should clear up in a week or so.
